Home

We are home!  Home sweet home, Hawaii!

We traveled from Richmond, VA to Dallas Fort Worth.  Dallas to Las Vegas.  Las Vegas to Hawaii. I cried like a baby at Richmond airport when we had to check our Furbaby Sarge in. He did so good and only barked a little while the check in people were weighing his kennel with him in it and applying all the stickers and zip ties.  It's when TSA came to take him away, since they couldn't put him on those conveyor belts.  I felt like such a bad mom.  He barked and barked while being wheeled away, all while looking at us through the holes in the kennels sides.  I had to go outside, away from everyone to ball my eyes out.

We went back in, went through security, got something to eat, and boarded the plane.  As we were being taxied off, the plane got quiet and then we heard it... Sarge's bark!  Northern Starr and I looked at each other so quick and instantly smiled.  My heart was at ease.  He was okay.  He was on the plane with us.

The landing in Dallas was crappy.  It was so harsh. I knew Sarge did not like it.  We got some food in the airport and waited for our next flight.  That wasn't so bad.  When we boarded the plane, we didn't hear him.  Northern Starr asked the flight attendant if he knew if our dog made it on the plane.  The flight attendant checked and came to tell us that he was.  The landing was worse than the last.  As they were letting us off of the plane, they opened the doors to take out the luggage and we heard it again.  His bark was so loud.  He didn't like that landing either LOL.

But the exciting part was that we were switching airline carriers so we had to pick him up at baggage claim.  The TSA agents said he did so good. He didn't bark since they took him off of the plane and wheeled him around the airport to baggage claim.  He only started barking when he saw us.  We saw the two agents pushing a cart with his crate and we RAN after them screaming, "He's ours!  He's ours!"

We had almost 6 hours with him.  Poor baby was so exhausted.  Once we let him out to do his business, he got back in his kennel and slept almost the whole time we had him.

Because Hawaii doesn't have any rabies.  Sarge has to be quarantined for 120 days.  Even though he's caught up to date with EVERYTHING.  He needs to be observed in the Animal Quarantine Station.  He has his own run, and his own enclosed sleeping area.  They even put his kennel in their with all of his bedding so he's more comfortable and that's his safe spot.  Visitation is everyday except Mondays, Fridays and state holidays.

120 days, Four Months... is a long ass time to be without my baby.  The runs are outdoors.  He's an inside dog.  Our first time visiting him, I grabbed him and he smelt like a dog.  Northern Starr said "that's because he is a dog, baby."  I shot him dirty looks, as if I was going to set him a blaze.  "He is a dog.  But he's not a dog.  He's my baby."

We are going to visit him everyday if we can.  We do need to get jobs soon.  So then we won't get to see him everyday.  I miss him.  He sleeps next to me all night every night.  And he's my little duckling, he follows me everywhere.

Here's to a quick 120 days!
